Schneevoigt is best known outside his native Denmark as the
cinematographer who photographed several of Carl Dreyer's early
films. However, he also had a substantial career as a director, working
throughout Scandinavia on a variety of films including big-budget
epics such as two versions of the Lapp romance Laila. In 1932 he also made
Denmark's first sound film, The Vicar Of Vejlby, a rather bleak
tragedy. Many of his films, however, are rather lighter, including
numerous frothy comedies and romances.
