Pulp Fiction
Originally released: 1994
Looking back, it’s hard to separate the film from the phenomenon - but with the paraphernalia gone, it's important to assess what remains. The flawless script provides a narrative that tantalisingly intertwines as three separate pulp stories coalesce and separate. A tour de force of LA lowlife, it’s the perfect pastiche of classic Americana. EVERYTHING about it is iconic, inscribing itself indelibly on the memory - from the dialogue’s verbal verve, to the impeccable soundtrack, betraying Tarantino as a connoisseur of cult. His career may have withered, but he bequeathed us one of the best films of the 1990s, now ripe for a new generation to discover.
