March 1991: the Gulf War has just ended. A group of US soldiers (Clooney,
Wahlberg, Cube and Jonze) travel through a devastated Iraq, searching
for stolen Kuwaiti gold. What they find are ordinary Iraqis being
butchered by Saddam Hussein's army, because they heeded America's
call to arms. Do our heroes help themselves to the gold? Or do they help
the people their government's used and now abandoned? Three Kings
offers superior film-making, top-flight acting and a refreshingly
cynical intelligence - but it doesn't quite deliver the political
pay-off it promises.
