performance as uber-bitch weather girl Suzanne Stone is central to
this movie, whose contents are listed on the video box as: murder,
comedy, media. The satire turns on Kidman's killer performance as she
outshines her supporting cast - Matt Dillon as Larry, the husband she
gets bumped, and Joaquin Phoenix in a nervy, compelling performance as
loner Jimmy, whose obsession with Kidman sets up the film's
denouement. Van Sant expertly manipulates this blackly comic movie,
which was subsequently embraced by the star-fucker media it
satirises.
