Fun. Dumb and fun to be sure, but definitely not as awful as it should be,
Stephen Hopkins' lavish "update" of the kitsch 60s
lunchtime stalwart veritably gets up on its hind legs, rolls over and
begs to be loved. But William Hurt is unsympathetic as the father of the
stranded family Robinson and Matt Le Blanc is unconvincing, shackled
by his Friends persona. Gary Oldman is caught running around with glee
at being paid so much to do so little (you can bet this paid for Nil By
Mouth). The effects are stunning and the pacing is bombarding. The plot
