Alex Proyas' terrific but flawed sci-fi epic follow-up to the Crow
sprawls across the screen, begging to be better than the sum of its
parts. Rufus Sewell is a man with no memory and special powers being
pursued by black-mac wearing alien Richard O'Brien. Only snivelling
Kiefer Sutherland, bemused PI William Hurt and lustrous Jennifer
Connelly are willing to help. The brooding, morphing cityscape is as
much a character here as any person, and it is this glorious paean to
Fritz Lang's Metropolis that sticks in the mind. Dark and deeply
fascinating.
