what Hedwig's about. Sure, there are the songs, the wigs, the witty
monologues so sharp they make you bleed. The story: East Berlin boy
Hansel meets American GI, falls in love, has sex change operation so
they can marry. Operation is botched, leaving 'angry inch'. Hansel,
now Hedwig, is abandoned in Kansas trailer park, where he/she becomes
punk singer, glam icon... But that's just the bones. The heart of it is
love, pure love. And if this don't move your soul, baby, then you ain't
got one.
