The Godfather Part II of animated sequels. Quickly leaving the
confines of Andy’s bedroom, it finds the toys on a mission to rescue
Woody from the clutches of a greedy toy collector (voiced by the
spot-on, snivelling Knight). Woody, meanwhile, has to decide between
being timelessly preserved in a box as part of someone’s collection, or
ephemerally adored as Andy’s favourite. Frankly heartbreaking,
especially when Jessie the Cowgirl (Cusack) recounts how her owner
forgot her (Randy Newman’s song “When She Loved Me” is even better than
“You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from the first film). Sheer genius, and
certainly on a par with the first one.
