Pointless and irritating are two words often used by detractors of
Almodóvar, overlooking the comedy and the strong
performances from his leading ladies. Kika fails Almodóvar
fans because the comedy just isn't funny (especially the rape scene),
and his leading lady (Forque) just isn't anywhere near the same league
as Carmen Maura or Marisa Paredes. Coyote is badly dubbed and the only
high spots of the film are Abril as the Gaultier-costumed TV Presenter
"Andrea Scarface" and de Palma's housekeeper. Pointless
and irritating.
