Stylish black comedy from Almodovar on the old sex-death equation.
Martinez stars as the ex-matador, now a bullfighting teacher,
idolised by pupil Banderas as a sexual hero. Banderas desperately
wants to imitate Martinez both in the bullring and in the bedroom, but
winds up falsely accusing himself of several murders. The plot
thickens when Banderas' feminist lawyer (Serna) herself becomes
obsessed with Martinez's reputation as a matador and lover. After some
early wild but less successful work, Almodovar hits his stride with
some great moments and a good score in this assured film.
