This over-long, almost plotless early Almodovar farce centres on a
rather unusual convent, in which the nuns are all fixated on something
other than the Holy Trinity. One is a drug addict, another obsessed with
cleaning, one has LSD-induced visions, and so on. More miss than hit;
Almodovar doesn't at all manage the sustained assault on the Catholic
Church that his compatriot Bunuel achieved. But as in his other early
films, you see glimpses of his later style and wit - as well as several of
his ensemble who became famous starring in his later films.
