Faith from Buffy as a cheerleader? Yeah, right. About as likely as this
being a corrosively witty, ironic yet uplifting movie. Which it is.
While romantic comedy has lost itself in a mire of novel adaptations and
AOR soundtracks, high school is once again the place to be for
ass-kicking humour. The bitchfest that is the cheerleading squad
makes a perfect venue for sharp lines and wicked set pieces. Dunst
shines as the rich girl determined to succeed fair and square, and
Dushku reprises her sexy bad-girl act. The choreography is stunning,
the plot non-offensive. Bring it on indeed.
