Interview With The Vampire
Originally released: 1994
Anne Rice took out a full page ad in the New York Times saying how much she loved this movie... after slagging it off. Tom Cruise almost acts as Lestat, putting Brad Pitt's true-to-the-book long-haired loser Louis in the morose shade. Both big-timers are defeated, nonetheless, by trashtastic turns from Banderas as camp vamp Armand, and Dunst as a doll-faced killer. Slater has little to do as the incredulous journo getting Louis' side of the story except his trademark eyebrow raise, but Rea has a head-splitting scene steal. As scary and sensuous as a Disney cartoon.
