You'll feel betrayed by the twist at the end of this uninspiring
spruce-up of the legend – done properly it could have pumped new blood
into the old tale. Dracula (Butler) is as terrifying as an undead
Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, and absent or mute for the most part. The rest
are unlovable monster munch - particularly the troubled heroine
(Waddell) - with the exception of Plummer as a suitably accented Van
Helsing. The film's in-jokes lack the conviction of Scream, its acting
is without inspiration and its bite is more a gnawing ache. Nice
locations but a draining experience. Too much mire, not enough vamp.
