Bergman does her best as the defrosting shrink in this tediously
rambling bout of designer surrealism and beginner psychiatry. When
the new director of posh mental asylum Green Acres turns out to be hunky
but unhinged Gregory Peck, suffering from amnesia, guilt complexes
and an aversion to fork marks, Bergman sets out to cure him as they flee
cross-country hotly chased by a nasty murder charge. Producer David
Selznick lopped about 20 minutes off the Dali-designed dream
sequences, probably wisely, as the romance is definitely the chief
appeal here.
