Sivan is one of India's top cinematographers; he has lensed literally
dozens of big-budget Bollywood blockbusters. His directorial debut,
The Terrorist, is rather different; a low-budget indie film which
earned him John Malkovich's patronage at the Cairo Film Festival. It
may prove to be for him what Bandit Queen was for Shekhar Kapur - an
attention-grabbing way in to English-language films - though Sivan
seems happy to continue working in India.
