Roger Moore’s first and best outing as Bond sees him do battle with
maniacal voodoo leader Yaphet Kotto, while falling under the spell of
virgin tarot card reader Jane Seymour. Some genuine chills (involving
a sinister voodoo priest) and inventive action sequences (the famous
rolling car river jump; running across crocodiles) help to spice up
this semi-serious adventure, with a top notch theme song by Paul
McCartney’s Wings. Moore’s ironic take bubbles along nicely here,
before swelling to the heights of parody that typify his 007. Fast and
fun.
