GoldenEye
Originally released: 1995
The second golden era of Bond, ushered in by this flashy calling card for Brosnan’s era-defining take on 007. Now officially deemed the best Bond since Connery, this incendiary entry takes a leaf out of James Cameron's True Lies and presents stupendous thrills dressed up in MTV gloss. Brosnan is great, it's that simple. Bean is the turncoat, ex-00 badguy. Janssen and Scorupco are gorgeous as the girls, while Dench is fabulous as M. The only minuses are a terrible electronic score from Eric Serra (Luc Besson's regular) and a derivative ending that falls short of the superlative opening dam bungee jump and freefall into a plane. Bond, back with a bang.
