An uneven, over-ambitious blend of fairy-tale and
teen-killers-on-the-road movie. Régnier (outstanding in
The Dream Life Of Angels) is a frigid, bitchy teen who goads her
boyfriend to murder; they wind up in a forest, where the tone of the film
abruptly changes. The realism of the earlier section and the fanciful
second half don't quite gel, and though it's fascinating to see Ozon
developing as a stylist, trying new tricks all the time, this never
quite adds up to the sum of its parts.
