The legendary film the studio never wanted us to see – recut by his
producers after the original release (1995) bombed, taking its
director down with it, but here reassembled to Cammell's original
design by editor Frank Mazzola. Although not quite Performance,
Cammell sets his stars freewheeling to addictive effect in this curio.
Walken is Mr 10%, money man of the crime world, currently laundering
billions for Castro; Heche is Lois-as-Superman, a meek banker by day
and high-price hooker by night. She gets involved with Walken, his
undercover-policeman bodyguard (Bauer), and his Asian girlfriend
(Chen). Don’t take it seriously though – this is heist-as-satire. Bad
girls never looked so good…
