Guy Pearce
Born: 1967
Charismatic, toothy Australian actor who started out as Mike in TV's Neighbours before graduating to the big screen in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and a little seen biopic of Errol Flynn. As the ambitious, bespectacled Ed Exley in Curtis Hanson's L.A.Confidential, he won critical plaudits for the intensity and intelligence of his portrayal alongside beefier compatriot Russell Crowe. Since then he lost exposure in the unsuccessful Ravenous, in spite of his solid leading role, and regained it somewhat with a strong supporting one in William Friedkin's Rules of Engagement.
