College-boy Buster is reunited with his father, a steamboat captain,
and must prove himself to him, whilst trying to woo the daughter of a
rival steamboat owner. Although it suffers from lapses of attention
and is not usually thought of as one of Keaton's best, the film still
provides a showcase for his extraordinary gymnastic / athletic feats,
and a spectacular finale in an amazing cyclone sequence. The famous
scene where the façade of a house falls on our hero (who survives
only because of an open window) was done entirely without tricks and was
recently the basis for Stephen McQueen's Turner Prize-winning
installation.
