Overblown, sumptuous, silly in places - but somehow alluring. Oldman
stars as the enigmatic Count lusting for the blood of Mina (a capable
Ryder). Frost gives a career best as wickedly wanton Lucy; only Keanu
fails to impress - his Bill And Ted persona doesn't translate well to
Victorian gothic horror. Oldman in all his incarnations - wild beast,
wolf, yearning young Count and wrinkly creepy codger - is utterly
enchanting. Wild man Tom Waits pops up as an incredibly insane
Renfield. It's neither Nosferatu nor Hammer Horror, but as a dark and
lavish romance, Coppola's film is fangtastic.
