Thraves gained attention with some unusually narrative-minded music
videos - Radiohead, Mansun, Neneh Cherry. His own short films, such as
Scratch, showed a darker, David Lynch influence. His debut feature,
The Low Down, was something else again: one of the best British films of
the past few years. Unfortunately, like Ratcatcher and A Room For Romeo
Brass - the others - it's been poorly distributed and largely unseen.
One day, people will look back and wonder how such crimes against cinema
were ever allowed to happen.
