Shimmering slide guitar, wide blue skies, a silent man on the move: this
can only be a Wim Wenders film. An intensely atmospheric road movie, it
travels through uncharted territories of memory and desire as Travis
(Stanton) journeys across America to put his broken life and family
back together. It's beautifully made, and not without a quirky humour,
wryly observing the weirdness of mundane life. But its aesthetic and
intellectual rigour ultimately serve the heart; give it a chance, and
you'll find a slow-burning, satisfying emotional experience that
builds to a climax of rare grace.
