One of Kiarostami's first films is already a little masterpiece,
though it gives no hint of the more philosophical directions he would
later explore. It's about a football-mad kid who'll do anything to see
his team play, including conning his friends. Wryly observed and very
naturally acted, it owes something to the Italian Neo-Realists and
Satyajit Ray, not to mention the founder of the Iranian New Wave,
Dariush Mehrjui.
