Bewildering and alienating, but endowed with impressively coherent
production design, this is certainly sui generis. A vaguely linear
attempt to thread together the themes and symbols of Kafka's work, most
notably The Trial and The Castle, it has an almost interactive feel at
times, as though the viewer and Irons alike are trapped in a demented
computer game. We progress from one claustrophobic set to another and
from black and white to colour. Little is achieved, and there's no
escape.
