A fairly mystifying exercise in existential noir, reminiscent of
Michael Mann films (particularly Thief) in its deathly hush and bluish
cinematography. It just doesn't work, dull as a double-cross thriller
and unilluminating in its deconstruction of the genre. One of
Soderbergh's most obscure and coldly cerebral efforts, but lacking
even the eccentric design and ambition of Kafka to recommend it.
