True Lies
Originally released: 1994
A mixed bag of inspired action sequences and questionable bouts of racism and misogyny, True Lies wants to be a knockabout action comedy, but leaves a sour taste in the mouth. Arnie is secret agent Harry Tasker who hides his job from his family to protect them. When his wife (Curtis) gets embroiled in espionage events because of Harry's (frankly brutish) attempts to prevent her infidelity, Cameron finally comes to his senses and the action kicks in. The rest of the movie is slick and exciting, if you can ignore the anti-Arab racist undertones, and forget the sexist mid-section.
