This loosely autobiographical story of a boxing club in Nottingham and
the young men whose lives it touches was Shane Meadows' first feature.
There's plenty to like in it - especially Ashley Rowe's black &
white photography and the natural performances from a largely
non-professional cast - but the balance between comedy and drama is
uncertain, and unravels badly in the last twenty minutes, giving the
dramatic climax a forced feel. See Smalltime or Romeo Brass instead.
