The Fly
Originally released: 1958
Affectionately regarded by many horror aficionados, The Fly is truly a b-movie, with David Hedison teleporting himself but failing to see the uninvited guest in his teleportation device, the eponymous insect. The results are comic, if affecting: Hedison has a fly's head and "claw", but remains semi-human and thus cognisant of his situation. As his mind begins to disintegrate the predictable melodrama ensues. But all is salvaged by the film's final image. A fly with a human head caught in a spider's web, quietly pleading "Help me..."
