Perhaps Cameron's finest hour. Perhaps. A HUGE sequel to his classic
1984 cult hit, T2 pushed the boundaries of SFX and stupendous action. In
keeping with Arnie's status at the time as Captain Box Office, he is now
the good guy, sent back to protect precocious Edward Furlong as John
Connor, aided by hardened and buff Linda Hamilton. The atmosphere of
the original is lost, as is the joyous simplicity of the central
conceit. We have in their stead unrivalled action pomp and a juvenile
pathos that's hard to dislike. Key to 1990s filmmaking trends, but not
as good as you remember.
