Igor helps his father sneak illegal immigrants into Belgium. Despite
his moral doubts about the business, he seems destined for a life of
exploitation - until the death of an African refugee presents him with a
dilemma. Will he side with his father in concealing the death from the
refugee's wife, or help her and risk his father's fearsome wrath ? The
Dardenne brothers' naturalistic style is the perfect vehicle for this
compelling story of redemption and, whilst the subject matter is often
bleak, the passage of Igor from amorality to grace makes for a genuinely
life-affirming film.
