After the wonders of Jurassic Park and Schindler's List, Spielberg
attempted to repeat the heights of 1993 - and failed badly. There is no
excuse. The Lost World is sloppy, lazy auto-pilot film-making. It
lacks the atmosphere of Jurassic Park; its misjudged, murky visual
style muddies the action and reduces its impact. The performances are
uniformly flat and the plot is perfunctory (a second testing island is
run riot by dinos and they have to go back, etc, etc.) A HUGE
disappointment.
