Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery
Originally released: 1997
Totally shagadelic, baby! Yeah. Mike Myers does for Bond what Mel Brooks' Spaceballs did for Star Wars: a spoof that's faithful to the spirit of the original. Austin Powers (Myers) is the super spy with very British teeth. The Swinging Sixties were his heyday, when free love and velvet suits rocked. Frozen in time, he gets thawed out and comes slap bang up to date. Ably assisted by Ms Kensington (Liz Hurley, tongue firmly planted in cheek), he does battle with Blofeldian nemisis DR EVIL (Myers again), who can't quite adapt to inflation. If anything's unclear, you can count on Basil Exposition to fill you in on the plot. Groovy.
