When Kidman is taking off her earrings, you can see a boom in the mirror.
In the orgy scene, one of the girls' G-strings is crooked. Why did I
notice? Because this film is dull. It's a study of dull – of the ennui
induced by being not quite rich or free enough in a society fixated on
money and sexual freedom. Cruise, as the doctor tempted to take
advantage of rich pickings, can't match his wife's honesty – art
mirroring talent. In updating Schnitzler's Traumnovelle from
pre-war Vienna to millennial New York, Kubrick captures an
apocalyptic sense, but not the sexual charge it brings.
