Charlotte Rampling
Born: 1945
As sex symbols go, Charlotte Rampling is a walk on the wild side. She has a feline quality, but also an air of nervous fragility; an erotic charge under-pinned by something slightly sinister. In The Night Porter, she played a former concentration camp inmate, returning to have sex with sadistic SS officer Dirk Bogarde; in Max Mon Amour, she had a love affair with a chimpanzee. In between such kinky high-jinks, she's been a hippie goddess and a femme fatale. Absent from cinema while her marriage to Jean Michel Jarre broke down, she's now exploring older female sexuality in films like Under The Sand.
