A “dogfight” is a charming US Marine night out where each man attempts to
bring the ugliest girl as his date. In this intelligent and under-rated
movie, Phoenix and Fraser are the leaders of a pack of raw recruits,
dogfighting on their way to Vietnam. Phoenix invites guitar-playing
waitress Taylor, who discovers the point of the party when she
eavesdrops in the Ladies' Room. Phoenix chases her to explain, and she
shares her Summer of Love philosophy. The 1960s in a nutshell as their
ideological clash turns to free love. About winning and losing in love
as well as war.
