Movie of the Week of considerable charm. Hirsch and Lahti, 1960s
activists who accidentally killed a security guard when they bombed a
defence firm, keep their family on the run, changing their names and
location every few months. Their gawky son (Phoenix) is a gifted
pianist, who, arriving in a new town, is encouraged to audition for
Julliard and stop running. He falls for Plimpton, his music teacher's
daughter, and has to choose between his family and his dream. I start
crying when the family celebrate Lahti's birthday dancing to James
Taylor's Fire and Rain, and don't stop until the credits.
