Christopher Guest
Born: 1948
Best known as Nigel Tufnel - the Spinal Tap guitarist whose amp goes to 11 - Guest is a man of many guises. As an actor, he's often worked with Rob Reiner, always looking bizarrely different (he was the six-fingered Count in The Princess Bride). But he's also a comedy writer and director in his own right, specialising in the straight-faced spoof style he helped pioneer with National Lampoon in the 1970s - he co-wrote Spinal Tap itself. Best In Show is his latest; though perhaps his most intriguing career is as a member of Britain's House Of Lords: surely a subject that merits a mockumentary.
