Surfing never looked or sounded better. This movie caught the grunge
wave, combining spiritual appreciation of natural beauty (sea AND
Keanu's chest, what more could a girl want?) with a hard-edged
soundtrack and a high body count. Casting Red Hot Chili Pepper Anthony
Kiedis as a villain upped the cool stakes, but with Swayze at personal
best as surfer/bankrobber Bodhi and Reeves working his three
expressions (intense, blank and parachuting) to maximum effect,
Bigelow set the standard for cool thrillers. A sharp script, stunning
scenery, crashing tunes and uncomplicated plot make this perfect
party viewing. Kickass.
