Not a horror film, but a hushed, intriguing supernatural drama, this
casts Bruce Willis bravely against type as a child psychologist with
inner demons of his own, tackling the case of Cole (Osment), a young boy
visited by ghosts. Slow to start, menacing in the middle and not
resolving itself in the way you expect, it's a highly unusual piece with
considerable narrative flaws but a spooky, emotional texture which
pulls you in. Willis, Osment, and single mother Toni Collette all
subtly excel.
